WinAtSchool at the Big Bang Fair
 

The RSSCSE Team attended the Big Bang Fair in Birmingham on 13th  – 16th April 2014, to showcase the WinAtSchool Big Bang Quiz, a live interactive mathematics and statistics quiz. The activity was enjoyed by children, university students, parents and teachers who competed against each other to win prizes. The activity was a taster for the WinAtSchool Final that has prizes of up to £3,000 for winning schools.

New Masters Qualification in Teaching Statistics at Pre-University Level

The Royal Statistical Society Centre for Statistical Education (RSSCSE), Plymouth University (PU) and Mathematics in Education and Industry (MEI, www.mei.org.uk) have developed new Masters level degree pathways. They have just been validated by Plymouth University as part of its well-established International Masters Programme (IMP) and the first cohort of students will start in Spring 2014.

CensusAtSchool Wins Best Cooperative Project in Statistical Literacy

CensusAtSchool, run by the Royal Statistical Society Centre for Statistical Education (RSSCSE), was named Best Cooperative Project in Statistical Literacy by the International Association of Statistical Education and the International Statistical Literacy Project.

Presented to the RSSCSE AtSchool projects’ leader, Kate Richards, during the 59th International Statistical Institute World Statistical Congress in Hong Kong, a citation states the accolade was given “in recognition of an outstanding, innovative, and influential statistical literacy project that affects a broad segment of the general public and is fruit of the cooperation of different types of institutions”.
