Exploring Data Web site - This web site provides curriculum support materials for teachers of introductory statistics.  It contains activities, worksheets, assessment and data sets in both html and Word 2.0 format.

Journal of Statistics Education (JSE) - The Journal of Statistics Education (JSE) is a rigorously refereed electronic journal on post secondary statistics education.  The goal of the JSE is to provide interesting and useful information, ideas, software, and data sets to an international readership of statistics educators. This includes links to IASE, ISI and other international statistical education activities and initiatives as well as copies of the electronic Journal of Statistics Education itself.

Chance - The Chance database contains materials designed to help teach a Chance course or a more standard introductory probability or statistics course.  The aim of Chance is to make students more informed, and critical readers of current news that uses probability and statistics as reported in daily newspapers such as: The New York Times and Washington Post or Science magazines/journals such as Science, Nature, and the New England Journal of Medicine.  Chance News provides abstracts of articles in current newspapers and journals.  Discussion questions relating to the articles are included with the abstracts.

The Data and Story Library (DASL) - This is an online library of data files and stories that illustrate the use of basic statistics methods.  The site provides data from a wide variety of topics so that statistics teachers can find real-world examples that will be interesting to their students.  

International Study Group for Research on Learning Probability and Statistics - This is a an informal research network of people who share a common interest in carrying research into the teaching and learning statistics at all age levels. A newsletter is edited every three months to serve as a link between members and to provide information useful to research.  This is available from the web page of the Statistical Education Research Group at the University of Granada. The newsletters of this group  have now been replaced by the Statistics Education Research Journal.

PME Stochastics Teaching and Learning Discussion Group. - This group was established in 1997 with the specific aim of linking two research strands of probability, statistics and combinatorics. One strand is concerned mainly with psychological aspects, particularly decision making in an uncertain environment, the other is mainly pedagogical aspects of the subjects.

CTI Statistics - A free on-line statistical resource centre.  This contains software reviews and articles, a searchable guide to software for teaching, a diary of forthcoming statistical events worldwide, a CBL software developers' forum, mailing list information, contact addresses, and links to a wealth of statistical resources worldwide.   

IASE, International Association for Statistical Education - The International Statistical Institute General Assembly established the International Association for Statistical Education (IASE) during the 48th ISI Session is Cairo, 1991.   IASE is devoted to the development and improvement of statistical education on a world-wide basis.  It has a three-fold role: a) as a professional organisation, providing a forum for those concerned with statistical education; b) as an organisation for research into statistical education as a discipline in its own right, and; c) as the education arm of the ISI, taking the lead in, and responding to, issues in statistical education and training, and supporting and promoting statistical education, especially in developing and transition countries. The International Statistical Institute (ISI) is one of the oldest international scientific associations functioning in the modern world.  It was established in 1885 and its predecessor organisation, the International Statistical Congresses (ISC), was founded in 1853.  The institute is an autonomous society which seeks to develop and improve statistical methods and their application through the promotion of international activity and co-operation. The ISI has as its objective "the development and improvement of statistical methods and their application throughout the world". The IASE now produces the Statistics Education Research Journal.

The Royal Statistical Society - The Royal Statistical Society provides a forum for all who are interested in statistics.  It has over 6000 members, a quarter of whom are outside the UK.  The Royal Statistical Society organises over a hundred meetings every year.  RSS News is the Society's monthly newsletter.  It publicises forthcoming meetings and reports on recent Society activities as well the advertising of statistical software and job vacancies.  

Sportscience Research Resources - This on-line text covers the essentials of statistics for researchers.  The examples are taken from exercise and sport science, but the principles apply to all empirical sciences. 

Statistics Education Bibliography (Partially Annotated) - Complied by Sashi Sharma and Andy Begg of the Centre for Science, Mathematics and Technology Education Research, University of Waikato, New Zealand.  The purpose of the bibliography is to provide a resource for students starting research in the area of statistics and probability.  The bibliography is also available on disk to ease searching.  The bibliography is intended to be a cooperative one.

 
 
Royal Statistical Society Nottingham Trent University National Statistics
