Here are some links to sites concerned with developing appropriate measures of assessment.
 
DeLiberations

These pages are managed by Sally Brown of the University of Northumbria in Newcastle. They do not relate specifically to statistics.

There is also a site that considers the place of Portfolios in assessment.

Some universities are using the National Record of Achievement. The University of Loughborough has produced guidelines on how they use these records.
 

Publication on Assessment

A recent publication by IASE, edited by I Gal and J Garfield is called The Assessment Challenge in Statistics (1997, IOS Press).
