Creating Problem Solving Resources in the East Midlands: an opportunity for teachers and schoolsThis is an opportunity to work with other teachers to develop new interactive handling data resources for your mathematics lessons. Many current handling data resources suffer from a lack of interactivity and are often too focussed on using techniques in isolation. Can you develop resources based on problem solving, using real data – preferably actual data the students can collect for themselves? As teachers you know what works best in the classroom to motivate and engage young minds. Working in collaboration with other like-minded teachers you can try out new ideas and experiment! We have some funding to offer individuals and schools to support this enterprise. We hope that your project will lead to further teacher-led projects, perhaps, leading on to further support from the National Centre via the Small Grants scheme. See details at www.ncetm.org.uk. Briefly, we would require:
No final written report is required but it is expected that video or digital audio clips of the development and delivery of the resources will be used to demonstrate how the resources can be used in the classroom. Maybe you want to begin with just two people working collaboratively together who wish to develop what they are doing within a school or department or, perhaps you want to work with other schools, a college or training organisation.
