10   Link   IASE
The International Statistical Institute General Assembly established the International Association for Statistical Education (IASE) during the 48th ISI Session is Cairo, 1991. IASE is devoted to the development and improvement of statistical education on a world-wide basis. It has a three-fold role: a) as a professional organisation, providing a forum for those concerned with statistical education; b) as an organisation for research into statistical education as a discipline in its own right, and; c) as the education arm of the ISI, taking the lead in, and responding to, issues in statistical education and training, and supporting and promoting statistical education, especially in developing and transition countries. The International Statistical Institute (ISI) is one of the oldest international scientific associations functioning in the modern world. It was established in 1885 and its predecessor organisation, the International Statistical Congresses (ISC), was founded in 1853. The institute is an autonomous society which seeks to develop and improve statistical methods and their application through the promotion of international activity and co-operation. The ISI has as its objective "the development and improvement of statistical methods and their application throughout the world". The IASE now produces the Statistics Education Research Journal.
